What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?

My mission is to share my story, and my learnings, with others to inspire and connect. The powerful conversations among us women is electric. I believe we are all ready to speak boldly about our passions, our businesses and how we intend to improve the world. It would be a true honor to share in the conversation with you, among such a high caliber of female leadership.

How do you support other female founders and women in business?

My clients, partners and companies I collaborate with are all women run. In fact, my personal library of podcasts, books and social media influencers, are all women lead as well. I am in awe of the feminine power that is amongst us today.

At what point did you make your company a full time gig? How did you know the time was right?

I worked for my ex-husband for a few years prior to my divorce. I immediately took on consulting projects, out of my fear of money. Then, about a year ago, I stopped taking consulting work, and launched hopefirsel.com. It is scary and exhilarating all at once. After all the challenges I have faced, I knew I needed to stop just trying to make some money, and start living my purpose. Lindsay said to me at lunch, tell the world you are a coach, I didn’t even know! I have thought of that often over the last year.

What lesson or skill did you take with you from a prior job to help you succeed in your role today?

Working in HR, PR and marketing in consulting & in- house, I learned how to brand, how to hustle, how to influence, and how to get a message out. My first job post graduate school taught me how to be professional, polished and client- focused.

Let’s talk social media—who handles it for your company (you, an internal team member, an outsourced solution?) and what is the secret to making it successful? What is the biggest challenge?

Currently I am sharing my authentic self on social. I am only posting a few times a week on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. However, I am starting to collaborate with brands that utilize social and also going on a retreat with Jessica Zweig.

How did you land your first client?

Facebook, someone that knew me from childhood.

What is something you do differently from the industry standard?

I use my own story to inspire my patients. I also take a blend from over 30 years of studying human behavior and the mind. I believe that it is my responsibility to help my clients find some relief in every session.

Did you raise capital? What was the process and avenue you chose to take?

No, I remortgaged my home after my divorce and that $10,000 is how I launched. I have not spent much more.

What would you do differently if you were starting your business today?

To focus on one client at a time rather than a big group event. It is my ambition to get skilled at my craft, and then become a public speaker, group leader and perhaps author.

What are three strategies you use to market your business, grow brand awareness and generate bottom line growth?

First, it is from referrals from doctors and nurses. Many of my clients are facing infertility and/ or cancer. These experts opinion of me is my focus.

Secondly, referrals from my loyal friends and family. I share with them via Instagram stories mostly.

Last, I am currently updating my digital marketing footprint. My website is being updated with 6 months of fantastic PR.

What was an obstacle you overcame to get your business where it is today? Please share the story behind it.

Getting clients to become committed to weekly, or biweekly, sessions. I receive such positive marketing & feedback, but a few clients that are committed for the long term.
