Who is Megan Nufer?

Megan, a Milwaukee native, embarked on her professional journey within the financial services sector, initially as a CPA. However, when the pandemic struck, alongside a series of heart-wrenching events such as George Floyd’s tragedy, divisive politics, and small business closures, she felt a compelling call to action. This drove her to establish a business aimed at addressing systemic issues, drawing from her background in asset management and ESG investing, ultimately enabling individuals to make purposeful choices with their expenditures.

In less than three sentences tell us about your company and what you do.

Mayven is a multi-dimensional search platform which allows consumers to find and discover brands which match their values. Mayven strives to provide consumers brand transparency, allowing them to make more informed decisions about their purchases.

What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?

There are so few female founders in tech, and it’s hard to become what you can’t see. I want to serve as a trailblazer, showing girls that with passion, purpose, and grit, they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

How do you support other female founders and women in business?

One of the reasons I launched my business was to shine a spotlight on the countless remarkable female-founded companies and small businesses. One of the static filters on my website is dedicated to ‘Female Founders.’ My vision is that by making it easy to discover female-founded businesses, more individuals will choose to support traditionally underrepresented founders by directing their spending towards them.

At what point did you make your company a full time gig? How did you know the time was right?

In 2020, I started Mayven as a side hustle while holding a full-time management consulting job . In 2022, I was accepted into a social impact incubator at DePaul University. Upon completion, my business caught the attention of an AI data company. The CEO of that company was enthusiastic about my work and made me an irresistible offer: ‘Leave your full-time job and join us to execute your vision in-house.’ It was at that moment I realized I had all the resources and talent necessary to bring Mayven to life. I resigned from my full-time job and transitioned to working exclusively on Mayven within my new parent company.

What is something you do differently from the industry standard?

We approach search differently. When you think about Googling something today, the top results are often influenced by AdWords or companies with substantial marketing budgets. We’re disrupting search to ensure that the companies making the most positive impact rise to the top, aligned with what matters most to you as a consumer.
