In one sentence, what problem do you solve and for who?

I share stories with children in English & Hebrew.

What's your story?

I’m Moran, a pediatric speech-language pathologist. I’m Israeli- Canadian, currently living in the USA. On October 9 2023, I decided to focus on our children who were suffering because of the war. In an effort to spread light and joy, I invited children to a free bilingual English/Hebrew storytime on zoom. In the two years since the war began, I’ve reached over 1,000 children from Israel and across 15 countries — sharing stories, smiles, and lots of light.

What does BEING a FoundHer mean to you?

I love being part of a community of women who support each other. I listen to other women’s stories and get uplifted and inspired.

What are three podcasts you listen to that have helped you with your business?

  1. Dear FoundHer

  2. Esther Perel: Where Do We Begin

  3. Tony Robbins

Who is a female entrepreneur you look up to and why?

I look up to strong women who have helped the Jewish community since October 7th- like Lindsay Pinchuk, Aliza, Noa Tishby, roots metal. My mentor is Lori Palatnik—a renowned Jewish educator and speaker.

What are the first five things that you did when you were starting your business?

  1. Focused on providing good quality services to kids

  2. Focused on word of mouth

  3. Found a niche and specialized in it (bilingual language and reading)

  4. Provided excellent customer service

  5. Engaged with families with honesty even in tough conversations

Who is someone who has helped change or shape your business for the better and what did they do to help you?

Lori Palatnik inspired me to believe in myself and not be afraid.

At what point did you make your company a full time gig? How did you know the time was right?

When my children were babies, I opened my private practice. As they got older, I had more time to develop to clients and families.

What lesson or skill did you take with you from a prior job to help you succeed in your role today?

Critical thinking skills: always think on your feet and do whatever it takes to find creative solutions for problems or challenges.

Let’s talk social media—who handles it for your company and what is the secret to making it successful? What is the biggest challenge?

I handle it. It’s a full time job. I do everything from ideas to writing script, researching, recording, editing, publishing, getting it out there. It’s all challenging and has a lot of ups and downs.

How did you land your first client?

Word of mouth.

What is something you do differently from the industry standard?

I specialize in a niche. I over deliver and provide excellent service to families.

What would you do differently if you were starting your business today?

Maybe I would have diversified more - gotten myself into many different schools instead of concentrating myself in one school and area.

What are three strategies you use to market your business, grow brand awareness and generate bottom line growth?

  1. Word of mouth

  2. Ads

  3. Social media

What was an obstacle you overcame to get your business where it is today?

Belief in myself.

What are three actionable tips you would give with other women who want to start a business or are just getting started?

  1. Research the need and market

  2. Research what you have to offer that sets you apart from the competition

  3. Start small and build with patience and results
